Parenting Research Centre

Purpose: The Parenting Research Centre (PRC), located in East Melbourne, Australia, is concluding work on the Early Home Learning Project. The purpose of this project was to identify ways to promote parents use of rich and engaging home learning environments for children ages 6-36 months of age. The investigators used the Early Communication Indicator (ECI) to assess child language outcomes and the Indicator of Parent-Child Interaction (IPCI) to assess parent-child engagement. They have contracted with Juniper Gardens to code 600 ECIs and 600 IPCIs for the Early Home Learning Project. Juniper Gardens staff receive the videotaped assessments from PRC via secure courier, code the assessments, and transmit the scores to PRC using secure electronic data transmission.
